Create Windows USB Boot Disk

If you have a netbook or a dvd drive that’s messed up on your pc or laptop you only have one way of installing the Operating System.The USB is the only way of doing this.This article explains how to make a bootable flash drive containing a windows operating system.

Requirements

USB flash drive(4gb minimum for Windows 7).
CD/DVD or the image file for either Windows 7 and/or Windows Xp,alternatively you could have the extracted files somewhere.
A working windows operating system.You’ll have to use another PC for this if yours crashed.

How To Make A Bootable USB Windows Installation Disk
1.Open the windows 7 disk image or dvd and copy the BOOT folder to a drive in your PC e.g D:\Stuff\BOOT
2.Format your flash drive to FAT32 or NTFS filesystem and note the drive letter.
3.Open the command prompt as an administrator.
4.Navigate to the BOOT directory you copied earlier as shown below.

5.Type D: and enter so that you are in the boot directory

6.If you want a windows 7 flash drive,type Bootsect.exe /nt60 H: and press enter to install bootmanager for Windows Vista/Windows 7 into the flash drive as shown below.Make sure no program is using the drive.

7.If you want a windows xp flash drive,type Bootsect.exe /nt52 H: and press enter to install bootmanager for Windows Vista/Windows 7 into the flash drive as shown below.Make sure no program is using the drive.

8.Copy the all Windows files from the image or CD/DVD to the flash drive i.e if you created a Windows xp drive copy the Xp files to the drive and if Windows 7 copy the Win 7 files to the drive.

9.Your drive should now be bootable when selected as the boot device in the bios.
